Middlesbrough Mela is one of the biggest and most spectacular multi-cultural festivals in the North-East and offers a fabulous mix of music, food, fashion and fun over two days! Set in the beautiful surroundings of Albert Park in the heart of Middlesbrough you can expect world class music, local talent, the market bazaar and a range of exciting family activities for all the family.

Runner and Event Support Volunteer

We are on the hunt for energetic, reliable, friendly people who are willing to take on a variety of event support tasks

What are Runners and Event Support?

As Event Support Volunteers you will play an important development and delivery role.

Duties include:

  • supporting operational staff in the delivery of a safe family friendly event
  • some lifting and carrying,
  • setting up and decorating the event space
  • assisting the zone managers and helping the festival run smoothly.
  • Back stage runner
  • Main site runner
  • Family zone runner
  • Event support assistant

Skills Required:

  • Enthusiasm and a smile
  • A can-do attitude
  • Responsible and reliable
  • Good Communication skills
  • Relatively fit and active
  • No previous experience necessary

Once you have signed up to be part of Tees Valley Festivals Volunteering you will receive training in Customer Service and Health & Safety. There will be opportunities for further training in Inclusivity & Accessibility, Working with Children, Digital Capture, Content Creation and Social Media, and Sound and Technical Production. You can also get involved in some exciting creative community art and music workshops which will be running across the Tees Valley. And you can earn, and take part in, the RSA's wonderful new Badge Nation Award Programme.
