Middlesbrough Mela Albert Park, Park Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 3LB, 11am – 6pm, 12th and/or 13th August.
If you are developing your own workshop, pre-event preparation will be required.

Middlesbrough Mela is one of the biggest and most spectacular multi-cultural festivals in the North-East and offers a fabulous mix of music, food, fashion and fun over two days! Set in the beautiful surroundings of Albert Park in the heart of Middlesbrough you can expect world class music, local talent, the market bazaar and a range of exciting activities for all the family.

Family Zone Facilitators We’re on the hunt for creative volunteers with fantastic artistic or performance skills. You will run or assist in the delivery of a variety or arts, crafts and performance based workshops.

What are family zone facilitators? Our Global Arts/Family Zone facilitators work within the vibrant Global Arts Zone. You will play an important creative development and delivery role.

Past workshops have included screen printing, storytelling, wind sock creation, dance sessions/demonstrations, drumming workshops and much more.

This role would suit students studying a creative subject or people with a keen interest/past experience in creative subjects.

What you will be doing You might assist with any of the below:

  • Developing and delivering your own creative demonstration / workshop
  • Workshop assistant
  • Creative evaluation team member

Once you have signed up to be part of Tees Valley Festivals Volunteering you will receive training in Customer Service and Health & Safety. There will be opportunities for further training in Inclusivity & Accessibility, Working with Children, Digital Capture, Content Creation and Social Media, and Sound and Technical Production. You can also get involved in some exciting creative community art and music workshops which will be running across the Tees Valley. And you can earn, and take part in, the RSA's wonderful new Badge Nation Award Programme.
