Hartlepool Folk Festival, Assistant Venue Manager (Hartlepool)
Available from 6 October 2023 to 8 October 2023
Hartlepool Headland, TS24 0JB, Friday 6th - Sunday 8th October
This fabulous festival combines the best of traditional music with dance, performance, puppetry and cabaret.
Whether you’ve got experience of helping out at events, have specialist skills you’d like to put into practice, or are just keen to be a part of things, we’ve got something for you to do!
This year we have a brilliant music line up as well as folk horror themed events throughout the weekend, as we pay tribute to the most gloriously twisted interpretations of our traditions.
In exchange for 10 hours work over the weekend, you'll get a full festival ticket.
Venue management is more of an operations role, ensuring that set up, sound checks and concerts take place on schedule. You might already have similar experience in a voluntary or paid capacity. We have our own experienced crew who will work with you, as well as Venue Managers, stewards and volunteers who will be briefed to support artists and audiences throughout the event. You will work as a team to ensure that events on your festival stage run without a hitch. If you have accessibility needs, please let us know when you apply how we can make reasonable adjustments to support you and find ways to make the role work for you.
What you will be doing:
- Managing the events taking place on stage to a timely schedule, including necessary sound checks and setup.
- Providing backstage support to crew, stewards and artists.
- Communicating feedback and information as required to festival organisers and other teams.
- Ensuring the stage or venue is set up safely and is ready for use, including equipment and seating.
- Working as a team to help festival organisers, artist liaison, stewards, performers and technical staff as required.
- Assisting with and helping to manage clearing the venue at the end of events, cleaning, tidying, moving furniture etc.
The skills you'll need:
- Strong organisational skills.
- A clear communicator.
- Happy to help and work cooperatively with other volunteers and staff.
- Responsiblity and reliability.
- Able to follow the festival’s policies and adhere to regulations.
- Some experience in events would be useful.
What's in it for you:
- Growing skills, confidence and experience.
- Meeting and becoming part of a fantastic team.
- Attending free events, workshops and performances around your shifts.
- A free festival ticket including (if desired) a camping or caravan pitch.
- Helping to develop the festival and to make a home for the event in the community.
- Having a great time!
