Festival of Thrift Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd September, 9am - 5pm In its 12th glorious year, Festival of Thrift will again be in Billingham Town Centre and John Whitehead Park.

We want to work alongside people who share our values and our sense of fun so why not join our festival this year as one of our amazing Volunteers!

Calling all thrifters and grafters, stylists, creatives, DIYers, ladder climbers, fun-loving folks, energetic folks, folks with great handwriting, folks good at mallet-bashing, and folks that are handy with needle and thread or hammer and nails.

What will you be doing?

  • Welcoming attendees to Festival of thrift 2024

  • Signposting attendees to all the many different performances, talks and speaker events taking place over our large and fabulous site.

  • Assisting event managers with supporting performers and speakers before, during and after their performances.

  • Moving around the site throughout the day to wherever artists, performers, speakers or attendees need your assistance.

  • Supporting the event managers with changeovers and moving furniture, signage and equipment in the Talks Tent to accomodate our many wonderful guest panels and speakers.

  • Assisting attendees with any access requirements

  • Supporting the artists and makers with workshop preparation.

  • Supporting workshop attendees before and during the workshop.

  • Site dressing and helping us to make Beautiful Billingham even more Beautiful!

What skills are we looking for?

  • Enthusiasm and a smile.

  • A can-do attitude.

  • Responsibility and reliability.

  • A sense of fun.

  • This role may require a lot of walking around the site. If you have mobility issues please let us know and we can plan to place you accordingly.

We can pay your travel expenses, and you'll receive a meal or a meal voucher when you volunteer for a full day or evening shift.

Once you have signed up to be part of Tees Valley Festivals Volunteering you will receive training in Customer Service and Health & Safety. There will be opportunities for further training in Inclusivity & Accessibility, Working with Children, Digital Capture, Content Creation and Social Media, and Sound and Technical Production. You can also get involved in some exciting creative community art and music workshops which will be running across the Tees Valley. And you can earn, and take part in, the RSA's wonderful new Badge Nation Award Programme.
