STEAM! Community Performance Volunteer
STEAM! is a large-scale outdoor dance theatre production from acclaimed Southpaw Company, commissioned as part of the Stockton & Darlington Railway 200 celebrations.
This powerful new show tells the origin story of the worldʼs first passenger railway — and the extraordinary people who built it.
Blending mass movement, powerful storytelling and a stunning visual spectacle, STEAM! will bring together professional dancers and community performers to celebrate a legacy of innovation, courage, and transformation.
And we want you to be part of it!
Key Dates & Rehearsal Schedule:
Week commencing 11th August until week commencing 15th September
Mondays 6:30 - 8:30pm (Stockton)
Tuesdays 6:30 - 8:30 pm (Middlesbrough)
Participants to attend one rehearsal per week.
Intensive days:
10am - 4pm Saturday 6th September (Stockton)
10am - 4pm Sunday 14th September (Stockton)
10am - 4pm Sunday 21 September (Sunderland)
Performances:
Shildon: Saturday 27 Sept, 12:30pm & 3:00pm
Stockton: Sunday 28 Sept, 2:00pm & 4:00pm
What will you be doing?
As a STEAM! community cast member, youʼll:
- Learn exciting choreography as part of a mass performance.
- Proudly represent your town in a spectacular celebration.
- Meet new people, enjoy fun rehearsals, and become part of something memorable.
- Weʼll provide everything — choreography, support, transport, rehearsal spaces and costumes.
- You just bring yourself!
